The fondess memerory I have of those days is the player introdutions.
First Jerry Bisbano, Wilbert Lofton, Freddy Saunders,Roy Ebron, Then
” At guard, From east High School in Columbus,Ohio. The Nation’s leading scorer Dwight Bo Lamar.” You could barely here his name called on the PA over the roar of the crowd.
Sneakin’ in at halftime of both games of the Bayou Classic; Bo Lamar v. Ed Ratleff (Long Beach State; USL v. Pan American, etc.) The smoke so thick that today’s advocates of a smoke-free enviroment would need emergency medical attention by just seeing it. I was too young to appreciate the historical signficance of Coach Shipley’s decision to sign black players. I just knew the Bulldogs were fun to watch. Roy Ebron was a monster inside. Bo would shoot that arching jumper from deep in the corner. As Ron Gomez so accurately put it in signing my copy of “Slam Dunked”: “These were the days, my friend.” They most definately were.

I can’t wait for this film. People need to see the injustice that happened to a coach and university that went against the NCAA.

Having played with Bo in columbus, I can’t wait for the film. USL would have beat UCLA during those years. Gaurantee it.
